Pine Meadows Jackson Hole’s definition of elegant graciousness: a log home and guest house immersed in nature, laced by a creek, with all rooms oriented to the panorama and the people gathered together.
The driveway winds its way past mature landscape – lush willows, tall Aspens – past a three-car garage to arrive at the front door. Rooms flow together according to a spacious open layout, starting with the foyer. The front door opens onto an eclectically decorated foyer with a coat stand made of antique skis, a buffalo wall hanging, closet and a carved armoire, all beneath a metal discus chandelier. Turn right, pass a powder room with a bronze basin sink in a granite slap and enter the great room, a richly-appointed series of living areas unfolding beneath a soaring cathedral ceiling. The sunken living area faces a two-story river rock fireplace that faces a cozy brocade armchair, two suede couches, a marble coffee table, hide drum side tables, decorative lamps, potted plants and a flat-screen TV. A dramatic contemporary painting hangs above the mantel. A nearby bar invites relaxing in two lush armchairs.
A stone-inlay dining table seats eight in upholstered chairs beneath a hide and metal pendant. A pair of saddles perch beside the gourmet kitchen, a dream for all chefs with its blanched cabinets, breakfast bar, stainless steel appliances, 6-burner Viking stove, double basin sink and a second sink – all with breathtaking views of the creek, valley and mountains. Beyond the kitchen, a built-in desk flanks one wall of a family room. Meanwhile, a trio of leather armchairs clusters in front of the river rock fireplace and studded armoire, around a marble coffee table. A card table, sporting a chess set, sits across from the desk. The family area flows into the kitchen and ultimately, the great room.
The deck mirrors the house and the creek, offering endless opportunities for scenic repose: in armchairs, in a hammock, on benches, in the hot tub, on the dock. Overlooking the porch, windows run the length of the house on the north-facing wall. Or, enter the house from the side into the mudroom, with its built-in crimson cabinetry, wall hooks, cubbies and bench. The mudroom flows into the laundry room (washer dryer, sink) and then on into the family room.
Off the family room, a downstairs bedroom features a queen bed with an ivory duvet and carved wood headboard. Accents abound: a brocade bench, matching nightstands and a decorative console. Floral drapes frame the windows. The ensuite bathroom features two vanities across from one another, a glass shower, deep tub, built-in cabinets, and a walk-in closet. Two more bedrooms lie upstairs. Black and white nature photography line the stairwell, and a desk and leather armchair sits on the landing overlooking the great room. One bedroom features a queen bed atop a wood frame, accompanied by a leather armchair and ottoman, a cane side table, built-in dresser and two closets. The ensuite bath features a granite vanity, a glass shower, bamboo ladder towel holder, and a claw-foot tub tucked in the eaves.
The master bedroom boasts a king bed on a cane frame with a woven duvet and ample accents: an upholstered chaise, an antique chest, inlayed night stands and a walk-in closet. North-facing windows wash the room in light and vistas. The ensuite bath features slate floors, built-in cabinetry, a glass shower and deep tub beside a window.
A glass breezeway connects the main house to the guest house, tucked behind the garage. Stepping into the open layout, guests are greeted by a great room rising beneath a peaked roof and anchored by four large armchairs facing each other in a quarterfoil. Rustic Western accents pepper the room, from the console to the coffee table and hardwood floors. A card table flanked by two armchairs sits in one corner, and a TV/DVD player tucked in a built-in cupboard occupies another. The gallery kitchen flanks the western wall with a granite countertop, stainless steel appliances, deep sink and rustic red cabinets. Artwork rooted in valley pastimes – like fishing – decorates the guest house. A mudroom, accessible by a back entrance, offers built-in storage, a bench, hooks, two closets and a washer and dryer. The first bedroom features a wrought-iron queen bed wrapped in striped bedding, accompanied by a glass-top side table, decorative dresser, closet and accent mirror. The second bedroom boasts a queen bed backed by a carved wood headboard and topped with striped bedding, a dresser, closet and mirror. A hallway, with a carved bear coat tree and vintage movie poster, leads to a shared bath with granite vanity, built-in cabinets and glass shower.
The secluded Pine Meadows area lies along Flat Creek Road, just south of downtown Wilson and nearly equidistant to Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, Grand Teton National Park and downtown Jackson.
