Greetings friends! My name is Nate Owens, and I am the newest addition to the Jackson Hole Resort Lodging team. Having lived in Jackson for a little over a decade I have had lots of opportunities to ski our beautiful resort, but this winter will be my first season being able to do so as an employee of the mountain.

Each year as the snow starts to pile up around Teton Village there is a palpable excitement in the air as people start buzzing in and out of the shops, getting their gear tuned up and buying whatever new piece of equipment is on the top of their list. This year I decided to treat myself to a brand new ski setup from Teton Village Sports during their annual Labor Day sale. My old skis and boots had served me well, but everything was ready to be updated. The folks at Teton Village Sports are experts at pairing their customers with everything they will need for the best possible experience on our mountain.

Having learned over the years that good fitting boots are the most important piece of gear I decided to get a boot fitting and custom insoles from the man, the myth, the legend – Matt Sheets. He deftly guided me through the process of sizing, fitting, and forming my new boots and I highly recommend his services.

Working in Teton Village has also made it easier to go visit the unique shops and restaurants out here. There are a handful of new and exciting businesses that are opening their doors here. One that I am particularly fond of is Mountain Khakis – an outdoor clothing company built for the mountain lifestyle. Here you can find an array of up-to-date styles of flannels, durable work clothes and accessories. Mountain Khakis is functional western mountain chic at its best.

Before working for JHRL I had been navigating a career in the world of gourmet food and fine dining, and although I was ready for a change – good eating is still definitely a passion of mine. With this in mind, I am thrilled to be working close to the newly opened Old Yellowstone Garage (O.Y.G) at the base of the mountain.

O.Y.G. has a storied history as a restaurant here in the valley, and its new location here in Teton Village is its 4th incarnation. But one thing that has always been consistent is unparalleled quality Italian food. Chef Paulie has already spent 6 years at the helm, and with a brand new dining space and chef’s kitchen, he is poised to continue on the beloved O.Y.G tradition here in Teton Village. Already I am eagerly awaiting my first opportunity to sit down and try his newest creations.

As I sit here looking out at this beautiful mountain resort, I am looking forward to all of the new adventures that will come out of my time here. Taking advantage of being so close to the unique shops and restaurants here will certainly add to my experiences out here in Teton Village. And for all those who come to visit JHMR this winter, I look forward to seeing you on the mountain!
